Record year...
My kids have been the sickest this school year than they have ever been in their whole lives! Both boys had H1N1. Two weeks ago they both had Strep throat. And last night Drake got the Croup which flared up his asthma and sent him spiraling today. Nothing I did helped. As the day progressed on it just got worse and worse. After supper we headed to Urgent care because he just wouldn't eat and his coughing just wouldn't stop and his breathing was becoming more shallow. They took his pulse ox as soon as we got there and it was 89! It should be around 97/98! 89 is hospitalization! They didn't even bother with chest xrays. Just wanted us to get to the E.R. asap! The E.R. was swamped of course. Not a free room in the place. Had to wait a bit. And then had to wait forever once we were in the room. His pulse ox showed higher than when we were at Urgent care, so apparently they didn't feel he was top priority. Finally, they gave him a breathing treatment mixed with a steroid and also gave him a liquid steroid. He finally began to perk up, and we were told that the viral infection, or croup, was flaring up his asthma and we would need to give him steroids for the next 3 days and keep a close eye on his breathing and temperature. We left the E.R. around 10:00pm. We also had Gage with us, who needed to get to bed for school in the morning! Drake was finally hungry now that he was feeling a little better. He hadn't eaten barely 2 bites of food all day! So I made a trip through McDonalds for him, and he was WIDE awake from the steroids. It took forever for him to fall asleep. Morning is going to come early for all of us. I will be missing yet another day of work. I'm looking forward to having only 2 school days left after the holiday, and then I am done for the year. We need summer.
Drake sings...
And he is stuck on American Pie by Don McLean. But his version goes like this.
Bye, bye Mrs. American Pie.
Drove my Cheby to the Leby
But the Leby been dry.
And them good boys are
drinking whiskey and rye.
This'll be a day I die.
And it was cute the first 50 times. Now...not so much.

He's getting mouthy...
Tonight we ate supper on the deck. Pork chop sandwiches or brats and chips. Gage and I exchanged words.
Me: (as Gage is dipping his doritos into his big pile of ketchup) Gage, that is just gross!
Gage: Oh. This coming from the lady that puts salsa on her brats!
BAZINGA!
And his dad laughed his ass off.

Steve and I are the proud new owners...
of this old pepsi machine that occupied an old barber shop for years in the south end of Muscatine. A wonderful neighbor of ours couldn't bare to see them just throw it out, but didn't really want it himself, so Steve got excited and said he'd take it! He has always longed for the old, old Coke machine that his parents have in their garage, and since they aren't willing to part with theirs anytime soon he got his own little toy to play around with! It needs a little elbow grease and a new rubber seal, but it still works! It takes GLASS BOTTLES!! Nearly unheard of these days, unless it's beer, but if you're talking pop world you can't hardly find them anymore. We've been told there is a store here in Muscatine that still sells some bottled pop, so after Steve gets it how he wants it, we will be purchasing some and letting the boys see just how fun it used to be to get a pop. Or soda. Or sodie. However you like to say it.
It's gonna be so fun to have the boys "slide" out their first bottle of pop!
Me - n - Miss Kendall...
This is our friend's daughter. Kendall Smith. So cute. So girly. So fun. I get my girl fix everytime I am around her! She loves sparkles, and jewelry, and nail polish, and dresses. And every once in a while it's fun to see something besides short hair cuts and baseball gear!
And of course, this is after she just had to give our picture a little something more girly!
Gage's Baseball Team - 2010...
Glad to represent VFW again this year! I think we got a great little team who seem like they are going to have a lot of fun!! Steve is the coach this year, and his good friend, Greg Fuller, is his assistant. I think they are having as much fun as the boys are so far!! I couldn't be more proud than to see my husband coaching our oldest son! Priceless!
Go VFW!!
Just an "Ehh" kinda day...
My oldest threw up at his grandmother's house yesterday during our Mother's Day cookout. Thought it was due to the fact that he was running around like no body's business after guzzling some pop and not eating. He felt fine after, and when we got home he rode his Rip stick around the driveway. A while after coming in he announced his stomach was hurting again, and he was running a low grade fever. Today we stayed home. Feeling blah on this blah kind of day!
Gage just kind of hung around all day. Coming downstairs every now and then.
Drake played in a warm, bubbly bath until he was totally wrinkly.
And I answered the door when they came to spray the lawn with no makeup and no shower....in my lounge pants. And profusely kept eating these heavenly cookie dough chunks! I'm not so much into baked chocolate chip cookies, but these I could eat all day! I know. Weird. And I didn't even buy them! My husband did!
